Our service is specifically designed to help those in the community who are affected by Long Term (Chronic Painful) Conditions.

We continue to address the non-medical issues which impact on people’s lives. The service is open to anyone regardless of diagnosis, at any time and provides a high quality staff led community based service for people burdened with all forms of chronic pain.

Supporting self management outcomes

Chronic pain is a major health and social care issue, affecting around 15.5 million people in the UK, representing over one-third of the population. We enable chronic pain sufferers to make changes to their everyday lives in a positive and practical way, resulting in improved levels of coping and well-being. Last year we delivered this through achieving:

1009
hours of training
5742
enquiries
4330
monthly group members

“My GP told me about Pain Association Scotland and so I have spent some time exploring your website. ‘Thank you’ is not enough to convey my gratitude to all those involved in creating this site. Plus all those involved in the support groups.”

What People Say

Below is some feedback that our service users have said about attending either one of our 5 week courses or the monthly groups.

“By being online I think we get more 1-to-1 interaction. Also as trainers are not travelling we get the opportunity to email for assistance if we are maybe having a difficult moment and that real time input of support is really helpful.”

“The group does great things bringing us altogether with people who know and understand what you are going through. You do feel you are not alone with the help and friendship from the group meetings.”

Group Attendee
“I find listening to the group extremely helpful but find it very difficult to contribute to it. I explained this to the group leader and he very kindly reassured me that I wouldn’t have to speak unless I wanted to, which helped a great deal.”
